Flashback Friday with Birthday Blog Candy!

Hello my friends and welcome to the start of the weekend! Yay!

Today is my regular "Flashback Friday" post where I post a previously made creation that was photographed on my old blog.
I have taken a new photograph of the design so that I can re-post some of my previously made designs and keep them on this new blog for your reference.

Today I have a Halloween creation, but a cute one to share because I see I haven't made any Halloween designs yet this year as not everyone is a fan of Halloween.  I am one of those that love it...but then again, what DON'T I love?!!  LOL!
Don't know if you remember me being on The Digi Garden Diva design team, but this is one of the adorable images from that store.  I really enjoyed working with these images and enjoyed coloring them.
So here is one I pulled with some fun layers and colors in it.  All of the papers are from my Stampin' Up! stash of course!  Hope you enjoyed this "Flashback"!

This Sunday, Sept 29th is my birthday, so I want to celebrate it with you...
I'd like to offer up this luscious blog candy to one of my followers!

Yes!  Something to go shopping with to pick out your own goodies!!!

Graffiti Alley Cat

Hello my lovely friends!  Hope you are enjoying your week.
Today I have something different and fun to share with you...

I happened to catch this on the Little Miss Muffet blog and I went to check it out and thought it was a really COOL release! :)  These are not my "normal" cute style of design, but I have always loved the Make it Crafty images...(yes, I have a few in my collection! LOL!) and I just recently found the Little Miss Muffet stamps and just HAD to join in...especially when FREEBIES are offered! :)

So, what I have done is combine a couple of the images together to create this
I really enjoyed taking the different images and combining them together to make this scene.
So what I did was take the Urban style street scene FREEBIE offered up by Make it Crafty and then I took the Graffiti LM-2 FREEBIE digital stamp (PNG file) and scaled it to fit on the wall.  I did the same with the Feline Sleeping digital stamp (PNG file) that was offered up as a FREEBIE a little bit ago from Little Miss Muffet.  After I moved the images around and scaled it all to the size I wanted, I just printed it out as one image from my computer and colored it all in.  I'm not that familiar on coloring those Graffiti images, but I think I need to do another one of these to experiment a bit more with it. (I got an additional FREEBIE for joining the party that I have not used yet...so be watching for another soon.)  I did splattered a couple of markers over the wall for a "messy" paint effect.  LOL

I ripped the image out and then ripped a colored card stock to match the color in the graffiti image.  Then I layered it on top of a gray card panel that was stamped with a brick background image I had inked with white ink.  Because of this colorful image, I really didn't want to do too much else with it, so I just made it really CAS style...maybe not "clean", but more of just SIMPLE.

So if this looks intriguing to you too, then stop by the party and join in...there's plenty of time!

Here are the challenges I'd like to enter this for:
Graffiti Party - use at least one digital image from FREEBIE party pack
Tuesday Throwdown - CAS
Addicted to Stamps & More - Addicted to CAS

Hope you've enjoyed my creation today!  I'll see you all again soon!

A Cup of Christmas Cheer

Hello my friends!  Yes we are already in the middle of another week and it seems like we are blowing right through September in a hurry!  I have been enjoying this stunning weather over here for sure!
Fall is my favorite time of year...it's so great to be out and about! :)

This week will be all about "FREEBIES" for me!  You saw on my last post the last digital stamp I got for FREE for joining in the TSB reopening party, so I'll just continue with another FREE digital stamp that I picked up as long as I play in the challenge....
Is he not the cutest little penguin?!  I saw him over at the Imagine That!...digis by Kris challenge blog and saw that she was offering this cutie for FREE if you play along in the challenge!  (There is still time to get over there and grab it if you want to play along too!)  He was so much fun to color in!  Besides, I am a "sucker" for penguins, so I couldn't resist grabbing him up! :)
The name of the full digital stamp collection is called Penguin Cocoa in the store if you are interested in the entire set including digitally colored versions.

For my penguin, I wanted to use the traditional red and green colors for Christmas because of his little candy cane stir stick! :)  I added some glitter to the whip cream and chunky glitter for the snow he's sitting in.  I've also added some heated liquid applique to the pompoms on his hat.  I've also added my own polka dots to the cup and his cheeks with a white gel pen.  In the background behind the penguin, I stamped a snowflake and added some sparkle to that as well.

The sentiment is from a stamp in my stash and I used a ticket die cut to cut it out with and then punched an additional green ticket placed behind it.  It may be hard to see in the photo, but the striped red papers to the left of the penguin are glittery and so are the red brads on each side of him.  Then all I did was add some felt and shimmer snowflakes and lace to my design to finish it off.

Here are some challenges that I'd like to enter this for:
Imagine That!...digis by Kris challenge - FREE for All - Jump Back In
Sketch N Stash - Sketch (my neglected stash is the felt snowflakes, new is digi stamp)
The Pink Elephant (TPE218) - polka dots & stripes
Simon Says - anything goes

Hope you've enjoyed my cheery Christmas card today...another one to add to my pile as it gets closer and closer to Christmas! :)  As I've said, this is FREEBIE digital stamp week for me, so I'll have something else to share with you shortly as I'm working on it right now.
Thanks so much for dropping by today, I appreciate your visit!

It's Party Time!

Hello friends and a happy weekend to ya!
As mentioned in my last posting, I said that I was going to the reopening party for
The Stamping Boutique on Facebook

I don't know for sure who all was there, but I had SO MUCH fun and I got to spend some time in my craft room today to work on a couple of the challenges! Yay!  If you would still like to join in the fun with them, I'm sure there is still time to play if you'd like to check it out!

Here's my first creation for challenge 1:
Now that's called "party time" in glitz, glamour and style! :)  I thought this would be the perfect way to use this adorable Princess Jennifer Latte Birthday digital stamp from The Stamping Boutique!
(If you play along with the challenges on The Stamping Boutique Facebook between now and tomorrow morning... you can get this digital stamp for FREE!!  So if you'd like to go grab her, come play along!)
That was the only thing we had to do for this first challenge, just use this free digi!
I thought that since she was a "princess", she needed some glitter and glitz on her, so I used my gold glitter pen and colored the table stand that the cake is sitting on along with what appears to be a crown on her head.  I added a strip of gold glimmer paper and for the brad... I did not have a gold glimmer brad, so I took a regular brad and covered the head of it with some gold stickles and let it dry..viola!  gold glimmer brad!

And I couldn't let this one go without including it with some other challenges:
The Stamping Boutique - so soft and pretty color combo (see photo below)

Sketch Saturday -sketch (I flipped it)

Papertake Weekly - Make it Sparkle
Sweet Stampin' - glamour & glitz

And of course there was more than just one challenge during the party!
So here's my take for Challenge #3 I believe it is....
This one is quite a bit different from the top card!
Challenge 3 is supposed to be an "Alphabet" type of challenge and we were to use:  a Border, a Circle, a Stamping Boutique Digital stamp and an Embellishment. (I think I've got it all here.)

This cute little guy sitting up top my ribbon and border is called AJ Sitting from The Stamping Boutique.
I have also used the Recipe Card with Tab on Right digital stamp and then stamped a "thank you" sentiment in the tab area. (The sentiment is from Stampin' Up!)  I've also taken a "You're sweet!" circle sentiment to use right below the "thank you" and attached a flower in the middle of it.  (Not sure where that image came from.)  So I was trying to make a fun little scene for AJ here. :)

I needed a thank you card and this worked out great for it.  The background papers I've had in my stash for quite some time and the colors are red and blue for a kitchen type theme.  So this card has already been sent!

I have a couple of challenges for this one as well:
The Cutie Pie Challenge - A Cute One for the Boys
Shopping Our Stash (SOS119) - Oldest Flower Embellishment (from first bottle I bought!)
Crafts 4 Eternity - Cute Kids
Eclectic Ellapu - For a Boy

So I hope you've enjoyed my creations today!  I still have a couple more that I'd like to do for the challenges to finish them up, so hopefully I'll get them done in time tomorrow before it ends and post them when I'm done.
Thanks so much for dropping in!!

and the Ants Go Marching...

Hello friends!  The weekend is now here! YAY!!
I want to thank you to all that are now following along with me through the Friend Connect gadget!  I really appreciate that!  Hopefully if I ever get myself situated enough and organized, I can drum up some yummy candy to a lucky follower! :)  I have a birthday coming up at the end of this month, so that seems like a perfect time to do it!

This is going to be a quick post and I may be back later as I'm going to do some "partying" tonight on Facebook!  I'll explain the details shortly, but for now...check out these party ants!
I've seen these CUTE little ants from The Doodle Pantry on other crafty friends' blogs and have always thought they were so cute!  Entering a challenge and being on one of my "winning streaks", I actually won some images and this is one of the images that I had picked out.
I promised that I would join in the current Doodle Pantry Challenge this month and I wanted to get it in before it got to be too late to do that!

What's cool is that there is really not much to this at all!  This cute digital stamp came already colored for me!  (I did add some white dots with my white gel pen in areas, but that's about it!)  Not only that, The green dotted papers were part of the set as well and I just printed it out to use on my design here.  The candle was separate and I attached it to this image and added some sparkle to it.  Such a quick creation to put together!
And what ant doesn't like a fun cupcake party?!
The sentiment was a stamp from my stash in a set from Darcies.

Here are a couple of challenges I want to enter this one:
Doodle Pantry (DPDC38) - use a Doodle Pantry image
Divas by Design - anything goes
Penny's Paper Crafty - 2 patterned papers or more
allsorts - Button up!
Send a Smile 4 Kids - anything goes (Doodle Pantry is sponsoring!)

So I hope you enjoy my party ants card today!

Do you like a good party too?!!
If you are on Facebook this evening, The Stamping Boutique has a re-opening party going on!
This is where I'm going to be this evening as I'm excited to see Tracy opening up her store again! :)
If you'd like to come and party too, then CLICK HERE for details!
Perhaps I'll see you there later on tonight!

Thanks for dropping in today my friends...I might be back later...

Flashback Friday

Hello friends!  The weekend is here! Yay!  Good thing for me as I have so many things that I've got to get done!  So it's a good thing that I'm having these "Flashback Friday"  posts on my blog! LOL!!

Just a reminder that these "Flashback Friday" posts are previously made creations that I had on my old blog and I've re-taken a photo of the design to share again.  (Obviously the creations that may have been on my old blog may no longer be available for me to photograph as they've either been sold or used by me.)
If there was a creation that you remember being on my old blog and would like to see it here, just send me a note and let me know and I'll see if I can find if it's still available to photograph! :)

Here is a fun friendship Magnolia Diamond Fold Card for you today...
This has got to be one of my FAVE Magnolia stamps that I have...YES...I still have this one! :)
This was one of my fave designs not just because of the spring-fold style, but I absolutely love the colors on this one.  I also found a fun way to use one of my doilies!  So I remember creating this one.
Hopefully, you can see the liquid pearls that I put on the scallop circle.  The friendship tag in the corner was given to me when I was on the Whimsy Stamps DT.  It's a gorgeous stamp!  The ribbon bow that you see is actually what is holding this whole thing together.

And when you untie the ribbon, it starts to unfold even more and the middle of the design sort of "springs up". The name of the technique is called Diamond Fold Card!
Speaking of which, if you would like to know how to make one of these for yourself, you can check out the tutorial for it at Splitcoast Stampers by CLICKING HERE.

Here's another photo of it while it is laying flat on a surface.  You an see that the middle of the design still pops up and makes for a really stunning dimension to your card!

I have created a matching envelope with this.  A person can write a personal message inside or on the back of the card design for their recipient.  I've used a larger sized envelope for this so that it will fit in there nicely with all of the flowers added to it.  The finished design of this if you go by the tutorial is 4" square when folded shut.

This little cuteness will be going into my card rack for the Scenic Drive, so if you fancy picking up this card, be looking for it on the card rack at my mom's "Friend 2 Friend" tole painting booth. :)
If it's still available after the craft show, I will pop this into my Etsy Shop!
(Please note that I do not have very many of my creations in the Etsy Shop right now because I'm waiting until after the Fall craft shows to add some more...so be watching!)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  Hope you've enjoyed my "Flashback"!
Enjoy your weekend!!!

Some Big Bloomers!

Hello friends!  Hope this day finds you all doing well.
Thanks so much for all of the well wishes, I greatly appreciate that.  I think I'm pretty much over my sickness and hope to start feeling better now as I've got so much to do!

I also wanted to let you know that I have finally figured out how to add that "Google Friend Connect" gadget to my sidebar, so if you prefer to follow along with me that way, you can do that now as well!
I had to get a couple of followers before it would let me add it, because it was not showing up to add as a gadget in my layout settings for some reason.
I still use the Feedly for my blogs to follow, but would gladly follow you back on the "Friend Connect" if I see you following me over here! :)  Thank you!

I have a humorous card to share with you today...
LOL!  The adorable image is another Mo Manning digital stamp called Big Girl Pants.
I also had this fun sentiment stamp from DRS Designs that seemed to go perfectly with the image.  The look on her face is just too cute! :)
I've embossed the background with a floral petal folder and added some paper daises to the sentiment circle and the edge of the image panel.  I also had a daisy border stamp that I've stamped in pink ink around the edges of the image panel as well.  Then all I did was add a big polka dotted pink bow and then attached another flower in the center with a polka dotted button and tied it with some linen thread.
I thought with the flowers, pink and big bow that it made for a great girly design!

Here's what I put on the inside of the card...
LOL! So if you ever have one of those friends that dreads every birthday that they turn another year older, then this is a perfect card for them! :)

I have a few challenges that I'd like to enter this for:
Mo's Digital Pencil - Say it with Flowers
Simon Says - emboss it
The Crafter's Cafe - No designer papers
Cute Card Thursday - Hip to be Square
Chocolate, Coffee & Cards - anything goes
The Hobby House - Used a Mo's Digital Pencil
Sentimental Sundays - Humorous
Created with Love (CWL58) - anything goes
The Pink Elephant (TPE217) - Use a Digital image/papers
Creative Craft - Use Ribbon

I know with only a few more weeks left to get things put together for the Scenic Drive, that I will need to really put my time and efforts into getting things ready, so if I seem quiet...this is the reason why! :)
Thanks for stopping by today and I hope you've enjoyed my creation!

I'm an Addict! Yay!

Hello friends!  Hope you are having a great weekend!
I have been fighting a cold with a fever this last week and trying to knock it down with cold medicine.  It's starting to go away, but very slowly.  At least it's not as bad as it was.

As my previous post mentioned, I had told you that I have some really exciting news to share with you!
I was so thrilled and couldn't wait to share that I had been picked to be on the design team for:

Yay!  I thought what could be more fitting for me than this?!  I am certainly "addicted to stamps" and I love to play in challenges, so I am very honored to be on this team along with some other very talented ladies!
Please be on the look-out for new challenges every-other Sunday and be sure to check out the blog for what my other fabulously talented DT friends have shared too! :)
(There are two teams:  Team "A" (I'm on this one) and Team "B")

This Sunday's challenge is to use the 1-2-3 recipe...use anything you want for the 1-2-3, but just tell us what your 1 of something, 2 of something and 3 of something is when you post.
Here's the creation I made for the challenge:
I was such a lucky duck as I won this darling Elisabeth Bell digital stamp called Sweet Surprises for joining in their blog hop last month!  So of course I couldn't wait to print her out to color!  The "Happy Birthday" vertical sentiment was stamped next to the image.  It's from DRS Designs.
*For my 1-2-3 recipe, I've used 1 charm- 2 pearls - and 3 butterfly die cuts.*
Of course the colors look so much better in real life and mix together so much better than is shown in this photo, but I've distressed all the edges of papers and added some paint and loose glitter to the flowers.
I've added the charm to the flowers by chaining it together with jump rings.  (The charm says "wish")
Here's a better close-up of my coloring details.  It's a little hard to see in the photo, but the ice cream has glitter over it and the chocolate syrup and cherry have been covered with some crystal effects.
I think it gives it the appearance of melting ice cream! :)
So I suppose this is my one last "Farewell to Summer" creation as it's time to start thinking of Fall!
The weather has certainly been feeling like Fall the last few days, but I didn't want to leave Summer without sharing this darling image with you.

So here are some other challenges I'd like to enter this for:
Elisabeth Bell's World - Sizzling Summer Days
Craft Your Passion - Glitter & Gloss (used both on ice cream cone)
Loves Rubber Stamps (LRSBC69) - Have a Sentiment on the Front
Papertake Weekly - Child's Play
Deep Ocean - Goodbye Summer
Fab 'n' Funky - Sweet Treats
Creative Knockouts - 1 image, 1 sentiment, 2 design papers, 3 embellishments
Paper Crafting Journey - Flowers!
Addicted to Stamps & More - Make Your Mark (colored with Copic markers)
Daring Cardmakers - Signature Style (flowers, ribbon, glitter, cute images to color in)

So I think that's all for me today my friends!  It looks like another gorgeous day and I have some family coming over for a gathering and it's football game day as well...so I'll be busy with that, but I look forward to visiting you all later!  Thanks so much for dropping in today!

*Don't forget to join in the challenge and see the inspiration at the Addicted to Stamps Challenge!*

A Flashback Friday...

Hello friends and happy Friday to you all! :)
I have been ill the last few days, so the time in my stamp room was limited.
Although I have nothing *new* to share with you today, I do have several creations that were on my old blog, so I thought it would be fun to share some of these that I still have and make it a
  "Flashback Friday"!
Although I've sold many creations through craft shows and used personally, I still have some creations that I have either saved for myself or haven't been sold yet.

So I've picked out this really sweet creation to share today....
Even though this was shown on my "old blog", I don't have photos of my creations from that blog, so anything that I've placed on that blog has to be rephotographed again.
So this re-visited cutie pie is obviously a Sugar Nellie Simply Sassy stamp called Hippie Chick.  I just love this image, but I no longer have it...this is the only card I have with this image! boo!
The ticket sentiment stamp comes from Whimsy Stamps.
I believe that I had made this one for the Stamp Something Challenge Blog when I was a DT member.
The challenge no longer exists, but I sure enjoyed my time with those people! :)

I thought this would make for a great teen girl birthday, so this is what I put on the inside...
As you can see on the edges of the photos, I've also made a matching envelope.
This card is 5" square finished design and I will be popping it into my card rack at the Scenic Drive at my mom's craft booth.  So if you live in my area, be sure to stop by!

I will have some VERY exciting news to share with you all soon, so be sure to stay tuned in to see a new creation and for some fabulous news!  Thanks for stopping by today my friends!

Audrey Has a Gift For You!

Hello friends!  Guess what day it is?! HUMP DAY! :)
It is also a day of many other days today.  Today my littlest baby turns 17!  (Where in the world did all of that time go?!  They grow so fast!)  It is also the Anniversary of 9-11 of course as well.  If anything, I wish everyone around the world love and peace and to please remember that we are ALL here together in this beautiful beautiful world...be kind to one another.

Since this weather has been so unseasonably hot around here lately, I thought it would be a great time to think "COOL" thoughts and make me another Christmas design!
This adorable girl is called My Little Audrey "Christmas Presents" and she is from The Stamping Boutique.
Yes, exciting news...Tracy has re-opened the store once again and she is having a "Welcome back" challenge!!  So I hope you pop on over there and let Tracy know you are happy about her re-opening her shop!  She has digital stamps for every style!  (My all time fave is those sweet Audrey and AJ stamps!)  I didn't want her very first challenge to go by without joining in!

I've colored her in with my Copics and added some dots with my white gel pen and added some sparkle to her hat and the border.  I've also stamped a flourish image around the border as well.  The papers are all from Stampin' Up! and I've also added a bow to the circle sentiment from SU!.  The lace and flowers are bunches from my long and never-ending stash! LOL!  Hope you enjoy my design and think cool thoughts today!  I look forward to this hot weather ending very soon as I like to sit on my patio and it's way too hot to enjoy time outside right now.

Here's some challenges that I want to enter this for:
The Stamping Boutique - Christmas
CRAFT - Christmas
Sunday Sketch and Stamp - sketch
Tuesday Throwdown - anything goes
Penny's Paper Crafty - anything goes
The Sisterhood of Crafters - Devine Digis

Thanks for stopping by today.  I'm not really feeling well this morning as everything is taking me so long to do and my head hurts, so I think I'm going to rest for a bit.  Enjoy your day!

Commissioned Pretty in Pink Birthday Princess

Hello friends and welcome to another Monday!...I know, right?!
I am so ready for Fall as this weather is supposed to be crazy HOT this week!  I'm ready for a cool down and to see those gorgeous Fall colors!  So hopefully if I can survive another week of this...it will calm down?

On another note, I had such a great weekend!  I got to watch my son in his first college Cross Country meet and go out to eat with his girlfriend.  Hubby's oldest "baby" (my step-son) proposed and is now engaged!  Sat and watched some really good football games yesterday as well.  There is always something in life to be happy about!  I also managed to make some time to create another commissioned card!  What could be better?!
Is this just not totally precious or what?!  As always, it's so much better in person as you can see all of the shimmer and sparkle in such a brilliant way that you can't see in the photos!
I was asked to create a birthday card for a little baby who she called her "princess"...so I couldn't resist pulling out this adorable image from Mo's Digital Pencil to color in!  This image is called Birthday Surprise Girl and this is my first time using darker skin tones.  I think she turned out so sweet! :)  I have so fallen in love with this artist's images!  Can't wait to color another!

The circle sentiment (shown above) and the crown on the envelope (shown below) both come from a set from The Cutting Cafe.  I had a heart and brad accent in my stash to add to the middle of the circle sentiment as thought it matched the little pink heart in her hair.  I've also added a pink "burst" image randomly stamped on the design from an image in my stash.  I think it's Memory Box.

And here's what the inside of the card looks like.  The sentiment was computer generated by me.  (Thought this would work with the princess theme nicely.)  Stamped more of the "burst" image inside and added a matching strip of cupcake paper.

And here's a better close-up of the coloring details on the image.  As you can see, added some glitter to the huge balloon she's trying to pop.  I've also colored in her crown with Copics and then went over it again with my gold glitter pen and added some rhinestones to the top of her crown.

And here you can see both of the card and envelopbox that I created together.
This is my first time making a matching envelopbox to go with my card and I have to say that I really thought it was going to be something really complicated, but it wasn't too bad.  It's not as evenly put together as I'd like to be, but I'll need to practice a bit more to perfect it.  I've attached a punched out circle design with a crown and more rhinestones added to it.  There is Velcro underneath the circle so that someone can continually open and close the envelope to store it if they wish.  What I like is the dimension to the box so that the flowers, ribbon and accents on the card do not get squished.  Nothing I would hate more than for someone to open up a squished flower accent on their card! LOL!

I would like to add this creation to the following challenges:
Sweet Sketch Wednesday - flipped sketch up-side-down

Cute Card Thursday - Pretty in Pink
Mo's Digital Pencil (DP2) - anything goes (W/a Mo's image)
Totally Gorjuss - anything goes
Card Makin Mamas (CMM74) - For the Kids

So that's all for me today!  I will have some more fabulous news coming soon!  So I hope that you will stop back by again!  There's always so much to do and never enough time to share everything that I'd like to with you all!  Thanks so much for being great blog friends!! :)

Gate-fold Easel Design Tutorial

Hello friends and a happy weekend to you!
It's going to start heating back up again and so I think this means some quiet stamp time for me! Yay!
I wanted to make sure that I at least posted this tutorial as promised before I forgot to do it,
but do you remember when I posted this creation?....
You can see more photos of this design on my blog post by CLICKING HERE.
But...for the tutorial and dimensions on how to make this design, then stay on this post because you are in the right place!  Just keep scrolling! :).............

Here's what you will need to start with:
Believe it or not, this is all you really need to make this design!  Along with a scorer tool and your own personal preferences about how you'd like to decorate it.  I am keeping this plain and not decorated just for the purpose of showing you how to put together the main design.
I've placed an 8 1/2" x 11" piece of card stock on my lined grid paper so you can see what size you are working with and how big or small it will look as we go.

You will need to put your 8 1/2" x 11" card stock on the LONG side (11" side) to score first.
You will be scoring two marks:  first one at 2 1/2" and again at 5 1/2".
HINT:  To make my score tool run smoothly against the card stock, I like to wipe the end of it with a dryer sheet.

For the purpose of this tutorial, I've used a white gel pen on the lines that have been scored so that you can see where the score marks have already been made.
Now that you've made the score marks on the long side, turn the card stock to the SHORT side to score. (8 1/2" side of card stock).
You will be making two or four score marks depending upon your preference:
If you are going to keep your card flat with little dimension on the inside of your design, then just score at 2 1/8" on each end of the SHORT side of card stock.
If you are planning on having more dimension to the inside of your design like mine is (shown above), with flowers, charms, etc. added to it, then you will need room for sides.
Then you will need to score at 1 7/8" and again at 2 1/8" on each end of the SHORT side of card stock.  Either way you do this, you will still need to finish out the same directions listed below as there will be a small gap in your gate-fold design when closed.

As you can see in this photo, I have marked in white all of the score lines that were made.  It really doesn't matter if you go all the way across with these score marks or not as you can see, you will be cutting off the two panels on each side of the card stock....

So as shown in the photos above, you will need to take your scissors or your paper cutter if you prefer and cut away the two short squares on each side of the card stock.  This is what it will look like once you've cut away the proper panels.

Now basically all that is left is to fold all of the score marks to make your design come together.
First, take the middle long flap and fold it like you are making an easel style card.
(Obviously, you would decorate this as you wish.)

Now as you can see, all you have to do then is fold in each side over top of the easel inside which will make for your gate-fold style of the design.  This is what it will look like all folded together.

You will notice that once you close up your gate-fold portion of your design, that there is a small gap between the two panels.  You can leave like it is if you prefer, but I wanted my design fully covered, so what I did was take another strip of card stock, punched a decorative edge on it and attached it to the inside of the gate-fold panel.  If you don't like it sticking out on the inside of your design, I just covered mine up with decorative papers and made it part of my design.

Of course, to make your gate-fold design stay closed, you will need something to hold it in place.
I've used a ribbon here to tie it together, but you could also use velcro, magnets, etc.  However you'd like to make it work with your design.  I just thought this was simple enough to do, but versatile enough to make it any way you'd like it to be!  So if you like more simple...it would work that way as well.

Hope you've enjoyed this tutorial and if you give one a go, let me know so that I can drop by and look at it!
Thanks for all of your support, it is truly appreciated friends!  This is the reason I keep blogging! :)  So if there's anything else you see me doing and would like to know about, just let me know!
I still have another tutorial coming up (Fran-tage) that I would like to make a video for because it's easier to understand if it's in a video...so I will come back again with another tutorial for you soon!
Stay tuned in and thanks for dropping by!  Have a great weekend!

Commissioned Wedding Lighthouse

Yay!  Friday is finally here my friends!  Going to a Cross Country college run this afternoon and hopefully I will be able to spend some time in my stamp room this weekend!
I need to play with some of my new pretties! :)

Wanted to share a creation I made for someone who wanted a wedding card, but this one was a different design because the couple is getting married next to a lighthouse which I thought was unique and I wanted the card to be uniquely the same, so here's what I came up with...
I really love how this one turned out!  I gave it a bit of rustic look with the embossed background using some of the Core'dinations paper and then sanded it up a bit.
I've not colored in a lighthouse before, but I really like this image!  This image is From the Heart Digital Art Stamps.  Never heard of them before, but they look like they have some really cute images there.  I colored it in and then cut the frame out around it.  I added some sparkle and then used some chalk to make the light soft glow around the light.  I thought the rustic look would work with this design even though it was for a wedding.  The customer seemed to be really happy with it, so that's all that mattered to me! :)

And here's what I put on the inside of the card.  This sentiment actually came with the image which I thought was fantastic and went perfectly with what I was looking for!  The "congratulations" was stamped underneath by me from a stamp in my stash along with the flourish image.

Here's a few challenges to enter this for:
Totally Gorjuss - texture
Pile It On - All That Flickers
Addicted to Stamps & More - anything goes
Divas by Design - Water Themed

I will be back again soon as the very NEXT thing I'm posting is going to be a tutorial on the fancy fold design card I made a while back that I know some of you said you were wanting to learn how to make! :)
Thanks for stopping in with me today!  Hope you found some inspiration and smiles!

W is for Welcome

Hello friends!  Hope you are having a great week!  I'm still trying to "recover" from the long weekend and both hubby and son have been sick! Yuck!  Hoping that I can skip out on this one this time, so drinking lots of fluids, making sure I rest plenty and trying to stay back! LOL!  It seems that once school starts back up, there is always something "going around"...so tis the season I guess!

Which actually leads right into the theme of my creation for today!
OK, so this is really not my typical school color combo theme, but I noticed this inspirational photo color challenge at the Bugaboo Challenge Blog, so I thought I'd give it a try with this image.  (You can see the photo below for the color combination I had to use.)  I think these little sunbonnet images are too cute!  This is the Fancy SB School image from Bugaboo.  I softened up the tones of the flowers by spraying them with paint and then I put a bit of sparkle over them.  I don't know if you can tell in the photo, but I've also added some shimmer to the book pages with my gold glitter pen and then I've added shine to the apples with some crystal effects over them.
I thought that this would make for a nice card for a new teacher, or from a teacher to a student.
You could even add a small gift card inside.  For now, I've left the inside blank until I decide what I want to do with it.  I might include it in a gift set...not sure yet, but when I do the craft shows at the school, these type of things seem to go over really well.

Here's a better close-up of the coloring you can see in the image.  It's so hard to capture that really pretty shine on the apples though with the camera!  You have to have it sitting just right or take about five photos of the same card! LOL!

Here are some challenges that I'd like to enter this creation for:
Bugaboo Challenge - photo inspirational color combo

Little Miss Muffet Challenges - sketch

Crafts 4 Eternity - Back to School
The ABC Challenge - U for "unlimited"
Kaboodle Doodles - Use Yellow
Loves Rubber Stamps (LRSBC68) - anything goes
Crafting for All Seasons - Back to School/For a Child
Crafty Creations - Back to School
Shopping Our Stash - School or Office/Workspace
So I hope you've enjoyed my creation for you today!  I'm in the middle of trying to get house chores done and finding time to play in my stamp room this week!  I need more coffee for sure! LOL!
I also wanted to share with you a few more goodies that I have recently won...
How exciting is this?!!  And this is NOT everything either!  I also won several digital stamps that I'm not going to post a photo of, but boy...the problem is trying to pick out what to use first!!
My mind and head are spinning to the point that it's almost overwhelming with what to do next! LOL!
I do have another commissioned card that I need to get to working on, and I need to do less exciting things like mount the unmounted stamps, organize and purchase "unsexy" items like glue and card stock, but I am seriously trying to work on so many things in my craft room all at once!  Fall is just starting and it's already getting crazy up in here!! LOL!!  So please stay tuned as I will have lots more coming up showing more new items as well as a tutorial or two that I have promised!!  See you soon friends!

Commissioned Boy's Birthday Card

Hello my friends!  Wow, what  busy weekend I had!  I think pretty much EVERY single day was filled with something to do, but I sure enjoyed it and had FUN! :)  Those are the type of weekends that can really wear you out to the point you are ready for the weekday to get here! LOL!

Since I was not able to stamp much over my long holiday weekend, I did stamp up a few commissioned cards last week and I thought I would go ahead and share one of those with you today.
This card is for a young boy's birthday who enjoys playing video games, obviously!
This is an image that I have always loved from Mo's Digital Pencil called Video Boy.
It reminds me so much of my boys as they have always loved sitting in front of the TV playing their video games weather it's from Xbox, PS3 or the Wii...yep they went through it all! LOL!
All the boys...including my hubby child enjoys playing video games especially when it starts getting cold out.
I do love Mo Manning's style of images, she's got such a great selection of images to choose from and they're great for coloring in...getting addicted! :)

The sentiment at the bottom was computer generated by me and I even decorated the envelope you can see along the side where the card is sitting on top of.

And here's how I've decorated the inside of the card.  I thought that the paper looked to be similar to the pixels of a TV screen and seemed to fit well for a masculine theme.

I think I have a challenge or two I can enter this for:
Aud Sentiments - any sentiment
Mo's Digital Pencil - "Good-bye" Summer!
Dutch Dare - Birthday Wishes
Card Crafter's Circle - For the boys
Sentimental Sundays - Happy birthday + sentiment
ABC Challenges - Coloring with markers
Everybody Art - Happy Birthday
Addicted to Stamps - anything goes

So that's all to share with you for now, but I will be back soon with some more creations as I plan to relax and get some stamping done this week!  I will be around to check out what you've all been up to soon!  Thanks so much for stopping by today and for your kind comments about my last design!  I truly appreciate your taking the time to leave some love!
